Services

Construction Materials Testing, combines laboratory and field-testing of soil and concrete materials to support construction and geotechnical design projects. Summit maintains laboratories in Augusta and Lewiston, Maine. Our Augusta laboratory is accredited by the AASHTO. Laboratory services include grain size analysis, soil moisture content, Atterberg Limits, soil proctor and concrete strength tests. Our experienced field technicians provide field density testing of native soils or compacted fill with our Troxler nuclear density gauge, and concrete slump, air entrainment and strength testing.


Contaminated Site Investigation and Remediation Services, including site history reviews, hydrogeologic investigations, engineering evaluation and cost assessment of remedial options, engineering design of remedial systems, permitting, remedial system construction oversight, and Resident Project Representative (RPR) services.


Regulatory Compliance Services, including hazardous waste reporting, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, storm water discharge permitting and monitoring, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), solid and hazardous waste management, training, and air emissions audits.


Industrial Hygiene Services, including health and safety audits and compliance programs, asbestos, lead-based paint, pcb window caulk, and indoor air quality assessments, abatement design, and management planning. Summit provides a full range of industrial hygiene services statewide.


Real Estate Transaction Support Services, including Phase I, II, and III Environmental Site Assessments, site history reviews, regulatory compliance reviews, hydrogeologic evaluations, and facility audits.


Facility Permitting, including development of license applications and supporting data for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, Natural Resources Protection Act, Site Location of Development, and other state and federal permits.

 

Brownfields and Real Estate Development Support Services, covering a broad array of environmental services, from Federal and State Brownfields projects to site permitting, as well as, contamination assessment, remediation design and management. We also have excellent experience in Maine's Voluntary Remedial Action Program (VRAP).


Underground Storage Tank Site Services, including hydrogeological investigations, monitoring well system design and installation oversight, UST removal/replacement oversight and assessments, contamination assessments, remedial system design/installation, remedial system management, permitting, and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans.


Solid and Hazardous Waste Landfill Services, including closure design, construction management, post-closure management, landfill cap studies, active and passive gas collection system construction oversight, leachate management, storm water management, permitting, hydrogeologic investigations, ground water monitoring system design and installation oversight, RPR services. Summit Professional Engineers also perform landfill compliance inspections and have prepared Landfill Operations Manuals required by Maine DEP Solid Waste Regulations.


Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Systems, including design and system installation. Summit has two licensed Site Evaluators on staff. Staff have designed complete septic systems for commercial and judicial facilities, military sites and private residences.
